Terry L. Steele

Terry was born on July 13, 1958 in Missoula, MT to Sid and Joyce Steele. Terry had 3 older siblings (Joyce, Emma, and Michael). Joyce passed away in 1979 in a car accident. After being born in Missoula the family moved to Lost Prairie near Marion, MT. Terry was raised Mormon and his mother would take him to the Mormon Church in Kalispell. Terry’s father Sid passed away in 1962. His mother Joyce remarried in 1963 to Ray Montgomery.

After graduating from Flathead high school, he enlisted in the Navy on August 26, 1976, he served after Vietnam was over. Terry served on the U.S.S. John F Kennedy CV-67, aircraft carrier. His occupation was the water transport. He also received training in communication and intelligence specialist. Terry was wounded in action, honorably discharged on March 28, 1978.


Terry came back to Flathead Valley from the service and worked many jobs. Terry was a logger, mechanic and drove truck as work throughout the places he lived including MT, OR, WY, CO, CA & WA. Terry enjoyed hunting and fishing in the streams. Terry also enjoyed racing motorcycles, Terry raced motorbikes in Kalispell, Billings, Butte and Polson, he liked to race. Terry enjoyed doing leather work. Terry loved to listen to music and build things.

Terry arrived at MT Veterans Home February 25, 2021 and passed May 18, 2023 he will be missed by family, friends, staff, and residents.
