Leslie R. Schmidt 69, was born May 30, 1949 in Great Falls, MT to Donald and Marie Schmidt. He grew up in Conrad with his siblings Barbara, Richard, and Lois, his twin. He graduated from Conrad High School in the class of 1967. He attended Northwest College in Kirkland, WA for two years and met his future wife Sharleen Lais from Molalla, OR. They were married July 26, 1969 in Woodburn, OR. They had two sons Brent and Brad. Les worked for F.W. Woolworth, National Supply, did paint contacting in Conrad, then he was the maintenance manager on the Air Force Housing in Conrad. Then he did Great American Train Shows all over the US selling Railroad Art and memorabilia. They moved to Hungry Horse in 2003 and opened an Art and Framing store in Columbia Falls and ended his career at Semi Tool in Kalispell, MT. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Les passed away at home October 22, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father Donald and mother Marie and sister Barbara. He is survived by wife Sharleen, brother Richard, sister Lois Norris, son Brent and wife Cassandra, son Brad and wife Autumn, and grandchildren Logann, Quinn, Evan, Alex ( Buddy) and Venessa Schmidt. Services were held at the Hungry Horse Chapel on October 27, 2018. Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls is caring for the family.
