Karin Carmichael Dyer passed away March 29, 2024, at her home in Big Fork, MT at the age of 60. She was born September 25, 1963, in Silver Spring, MD to Karin Lundberg Kastanek and late Michael Kastanek.
Karin was preceded in death by her father, Michael, and is survived by her mother Karin Kastanek, daughter, Amanda Dyer, and son, Craig Dyer. She is also survived by her sisters Colleen Bernard and Kathleen Kastanek, her brother Michael Kastanek, and by several nieces and nephews.
Karin attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She was a lifelong fan of all LSU sports. She loved her fantasy football league, which she was a member of for almost 20 years and was known as ‘LSU girl.’ Other hobbies of hers included swimming, golfing, skiing, as well as being an active reader.
Karin was known for building a beautiful life for herself and her family no matter where she lived. She had a one-of-a-kind gift to make everyone feel at home with her warmth, hospitality, and love for festive decorating during the holidays. Ultimately, she came to Montana in 2017 and built her cabin on the lake where she lived out the remainder of her life surrounded by nature.
Karin was extremely proud of her children Amanda and Craig. She was an incredible mother, known for always being loving and supportive. Karin will be remembered for being the first-born redhead, her infectious laugh, her kind smile, and positive outlook on life.
A celebration of Karin Carmichael Dyer’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Columbia Mortuary, 1010 4th Avenue West, Columbia Falls, MT 59912.
