Hugh Arlen Hamilton, age 91, of Columbia Falls, MT passed away June 1, 2022. He was born April 10, 1931 in Sheridan, WY to the late Theodore Ray Hamilton and Helen Elaine Hamilton (Collins).
Hugh served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 – 1952 during Korea. He spent time in Hawaii on base, which was one of his favorite places to visit after serving. Before going into the Navy he began an apprenticeship as a barber. He was proud of that and carried that with him through his naval career and into his civilian profession. Hugh was a barber for 50+ years in Walnut Creek. He even took up cosmetology and was an instructor for those learning both trades. When he traveled, even if it was to his favorite coffee shop for donuts and coffee, he would carry a briefcase filled with items used for his trade work. Hugh enjoyed reading Frank Slaughter novels and was musically talented at playing the trumpet.
Hugh is survived by children: Lynn Hamilton, Brian Hamilton, and Heather Marshall; 4 grandchildren: Brandy Latray (Ron), Blaine Thomson, Sr., Kyle Marshall, and Taylor Marshall; 3 great-grandchildren: Teigan Latray, Tavin Latray, and Blaine Thomson, Jr.; and sister, Gwendolyn Waddell. In addition to his parents, Hugh is preceded in death by his brother, Dale Hamilton.
