Henry remained there for over 33 years until a work injury caused him to retire. He then became the cook of the household much to the delight of his wife.

Henry was an avid sportsman hunting anything that was in season. Fall was his favorite hunting time hearing the elk bugle was his rush. Fishing was his number one passion. One of his greatest accomplishments was shooting a trophy bull elk with his bow that landed him in the Pope and Young book.
