Tribute

Durant “Randy” Henry Cephers, aka “Mudge”, age 63, of Kila, MT passed away December 27, 2022. He was born December 30, 1958 in New Brunswick, NJ to Rose Marie Cephers (Brunson) and the late Arthur Henry Cephers.
Randy enjoyed a happy childhood as the oldest of four siblings in a shore town in Old Bridge, NJ. He was a gregarious young man, excelling in sports, with a love baseball, football, and seafood! In his youth, he began a lifelong relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at the church his grandparents founded, First Baptist Church Lincoln Gardens in Somerset, NJ. He was a loving and giving soul who was passionate about his family. He had an amazing smile that was bright, extending from ear to ear.
Randy graduated from Madison Central High School in 1977 where he earned several letters in football and baseball and went on to Cheyney State University on a full football scholarship, graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering as a member of the fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma. Randy was the first of fifteen grandchildren to graduate college. Randy enjoyed traveling the world and worked abroad for the Department of Defense in Antarctica, Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Djibouti, Africa, retiring as a Fire Chief. Post-retirement, he went on to work for Liberty Oil as a Safety Engineer for several years. Some of his hobbies included snowboarding, golf, baseball, fishing, and hunting. He loved taking the family out on the lake for quality time and water skiing. Randy truly lived every day like it was his last. Randy always saw the good in people and will be remembered over a good bottle of whiskey, a cigar, a bushel of crabs or watching one of his favorite movies. Randy loved more than anything spending time with his three children and four grandchildren.
Randy is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mette Cephers; son, Durant Leonard (Vanessa), King George, VA; daughter, Emily Rose, Kalispell, MT, son, Andre Christian, Kalispell, MT, 4 grandchildren: Emilia, Camden, Evelyn, and Naomi; mother, Rose Marie Cephers, brothers Dale (Michelle), Aurora, CO; Troy, Palmdale, CA; Tyrone (Telishus), Marana, AZ, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
