Tribute

Donald James Dvorak
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Don Dvorak, age 92, of Columbia Falls, MT on August 31, 2022, but with the peaceful knowledge that he is in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Don was born in Glendive MT to Edna (Rogers) and James Dvorak. He graduated from high school in 1948 and joined the Navy, reporting aboard the USS Norton Sound. He worked as an electrician’s mate and was in combat action in Korea. In 1953 he met and married Florence Almond of Savage MT. Don worked for Beatrice Foods Company for 38 years. Don and Florence retired to Columbia Falls in 1993 where they lived fulltime until 2005 when they began to split their time between Columbia Falls in the summer and Wikieup AZ in the winter.
As a young boy and into adulthood, Don loved to fish. At the age of 27, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and began to fish for souls. Don loved to share Jesus with others. He attended Bible School in Alberta for four years and was involved with numerous churches throughout his life.
As well as fishing for souls and fish, Don enjoyed yardwork (particularly trimming trees), and helping others with any number of projects. Don liked doing a jigsaw puzzle a day, and his favorite snacks were popcorn, potato chips, and boston baked beans.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Florence; his son Craig Dvorak, and daughters Dawn Boutwell (Dan), Terry Laudenklos (David), and Joy Whitehead (Scott). He also leaves nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, his sister Louise White, and stepsister Delores Copping. In addition to his parents and stepparents, Gordon Timmer and Dorothy Dvorak, Don was preceded in death by his son Jim in 2012.
A celebration of Don’s life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, at Columbia Mortuary, 1010 4th Avenue West, Columbia Falls, MT. Inurnment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, 2200 9th Street West, Columbia Falls.
