Anna Rose Merrill, 100 passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 7, 2024 in Whitefish. Anna was born to Frank and Jeannette (Aquino) Perniciaro on March 27, 1923 in New York, NY.
Anna proudly served in the Women’s Marine Corps and served in the World War II. In her early years she worked for the LA United School District in their administrative office. She enjoyed playing Mahjong; a tile based game that was developed in China. Also loved golfing in which she did through her 90’s. She was blessed to be able to have seen Frank Sinatra and even received his autograph.
Anna was a member of the Saint Richard Catholic Church and was a full blooded Italian Catholic. She will be remembered for her homemade lasagna from scratch, chili, and blonde brownies were also a family tradition.
She met and married James S. Merrill and together they had two children; Jan and James S. II (Steve). Anna is preceded in death by her parents, brother Carly Courico, and husband James Merrill. She is survived by her children Jan McDonald, Steve Merrill (Anne), five grandchildren; Joshua McDonald, Jacob McDonald, Jedidah McDonald, Michael Merrill, and Jamie Merrill, and also fourteen great grandchildren.
